Old, untitled books should not be casually opened, for you never know what horrors you will find inside. Especially if you're a parent stumbling upon your kids' writing journal.

It's true. Why else would the Great Old One open a restaurant? I'd be pretty fekhin' hungry sleeping all those aeons.

Maybe, but I think Dad should take credit for this one.
That is actually a fine start to a story. I especially liked the little sidebar explaining his way out of the 50 crew member to 16 crewmember expedition. Excellent.
It's actually pretty smart not to fill up the submarine with 50 people before the expedition begins. They will surely meet other people during their expedition (underwater) such as the Man from Atlantis, Sigmund and the Sea Monsters, etc. who might need a ride. Not to mention the precocious kid and the wisecracking (waterproof) robot. Also, with fewer people they can pack more food, which will come in handy if they get Lost At Sea.
That is not dead which can eternal lie. And with strange aeons even chickens may die.
Crum - I absolutely loved the first line...very Lovecraftian. But if you actually do the math, he's off by a couple.
Julie - the precocious kid is the one writing the story! Do you think they'll pick up Johnny and Scott when they find Sigmund? They are friends, you know...
Randal - yeah, but if they're free range, at least they'll have had some quality of life for those aeons.
I hope you don't mind, but I have had numerous Yahoo! Fantasy Sports teams which I have named Cthulhu's Feces. Because my teams usually stink badly, I can't think of anything which could conceivably smell worse than the feces of Cthulhu.
Hah - that's great...wish I'd thought of it, actually. But I've only ever played one fantasy season (baseball last year) and decided it wasn't for me.
I imagine it's pretty rancid when Cthulhu leaves a steamer behind.
I keep forgetting to mention how absolutely awesome this is.
There. Now I've mentioned it.
