I was wondering what to write about when I found this outstanding video on a friend's FB profile...so I'm going to be lazy.
Information, knowledge about HOW we learn, cultural assumptions about who can be educated and standardization / anaesthetization in an industrial-era education system are bad news for our kids.

Sounds brilliant to me, of course I'm the oddball who asks stupid questions. Like why don't we install photovoltaic cells on the empty roof space at work to cut back our electrical demand during the hot summer months. They said I was crazy but the following year a highly paid consulting firm hired to help us with energy consumption purposed the same thing.
As for ADHD I believe it is a real condition for some children, but down here in South Carolina word got out that the highest level of kids being treated for ADHD was not some poor rural or difficult urban area but the rich families on Hilton Head. That trend followed pretty much in similar areas all across the state.
That was a seriously great lecture, wish we could discuss it in a better format.
Excellent video. The man made some very good points and observations. Our education system is indeed structured to churn out cubicle critters.
As far as the current reliance of America to resolve it's learning problems, emotional problems, etc by prescription - it has never been worse.
